Wellbutrin is making me tired and sleepy

Has anyone experiance feeling tired and sleepy while taking Wellbutrin? This is the fourth day. The first three days, I took one tablet a day, Today is the first day of taking two. I could have taken a nap today but I resisted. One thing that I have noticed on Wellbutrin is my hot flashes or as some of us say, power surges appear to be gone. I am going to give Wellbutrin a shot for a couple more days. If it fails, I"ll go back to the patches.

carenda, the first time i quit smoking i used wellbutrin also.for me it did just the opposite. i found myself waking up after only a few hours of sleep at night and was wide awake and ready to take on the day. you are suppose to take it for a few weeks before you will see the full effects of the medication. i have a severe case of dry mouth, sleeplessness, and barely any appetite. list the goes on and on. if it becomes too bothersome, instead of just quitting the medication, talk to your doctor first about it. a lot of times they can put you on a vitamin aswell for the tiredness. that is a great medication you are on, stick with it and keep up the great work with your quit!

Thanks Sherry! I will stay with it. It I continue to feel this way, I will call the doctor. Monday is going to be a very busy day and night at work. So, I'll see how it goes.

Carenda, I had a very similar experience on Wellbutrin, It was making me a zombie! That was a few years back though not sure if they have changed anything...I am almost 2 weeks quit on Chantix though and it was SO much easier than my experience with Wellbutrin, maybe it continues to make you tired you can switch to Chantix?

I've been on Wellbutrin for years. It was prescribed to me for depression. I had no idea it was also used to help people quit smoking. I smoked for years while on Wellbutrin. Give it a couple of weeks, if you can tolerate it, and see what happens. But I can say, I was able to quit cold turkey so maybe the Wellbutrin has something to do with it? Good luck and don't smoke no matter what.
