...From the nicodemon craves, that is. Our Central A/C unit died last night and I have been dealing with 95º weather, repairmen and salesmen all day. Talk about stressful!! If I wasn't so darned hot, I might have had a "real" crave. The old unit is temporarily fixed - at least we'll have a cool night's sleep - and the new unit is going in tomorrow. At almost $6,000 - who has money left for cigarettes anyway?!?!

But, I wanted to let you all know that no one is exempt (or safe) from an occasional crave. We just get stronger in fighting it off. Hope you all held tight to your quits today. I'm proud of everyone of you.

And I'm hanging in there......................Doreen :)

I am Smoke-Free and Healing for Two Years, One Month, Eighteen Days, 12 Hours and 42 Minutes, while extending my life expectancy 67 Days and 18 Hours, by avoiding the use of 19,513 nicotine delivery devices that would have cost me $2,519.09.

I feel your pain. Hurricanes aren't my big South Florida issue, the life afterwards without power (NO A/C) is my issue! Glad things will be up and running today. How come these things never break down in January?!

I know it - especially where we had a mild winter. I wouldn't have minded broken A/C then. I could have at least been a little less stressed until it was replaced.

Wow! Two years quit and you still get cravings? Please tell me it was just an immediate reaction of "Oh shit, $6,000. I need a cigarette. Oh, wait, I don't smoke. I need a brownie."

It was nothing like a crave of the early days. It was more like what you said - although I don't need the brownie either and I don't drink anymore, so there are no vices left for that "oh shit" moment. Guess I've just learned how to deal *roflol*

Doreen,

Just think about how much MORE your going to appreciate having A/C again!! I had no A/C last summer for awhile. I live in Texas so I know I don't have to tell you it was not fun! But I have a really great landlord. He replaced both the outside and inside units. These days the energy star ratings are pretty high. My A/C bill was never over $150 last summer in a very poorly insulated old mobile home!

Just think of your energy bills!

Thanks so much, Robin & Sherri. This new unit is sooo quiet compared to the old one. I can't wait to see a full month's electric bill. Never thought I'd say that, but in the summer, ours had been running between $275-$350. This new one is supposed to be a lot more energy efficient than the old one. It will be a relief to be able to line something other than the electric company's pockets.

Thank you Doreen for the You Tube video. I've never seen anything so graphic or disgusting! Sorry to hear about a/c & expense!!! That would make the most seasoned of quitters have a crave! My Mom quit years ago & still gets a crave now & then!
