“So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed”
Just reread your message you sent out to one of the groups we are in together. I meant to reply earlier but had some struggles I had to work through. I know how you feel about "How can I be a Christian and smoke?" and how it is to be judged by other people as committing the "unforgiveable sin". Well there is no sin that is unforgiveable. Smoking will not keep you out of heaven. We all have different strenghts and weaknesses. I remember a former pastor of mine talking aoubt smoking in one of his sermons. He had seen a picture of CS Lewis holding a cigarette. His first reaction was "How could he do that being a christian and all" but the more he thought about it - he said smoking is not mentioned in the bible at all. But glutney is mentioned many times. Since he is in his middle 40's and isn't as fit as he use to be - it really made an impact on him. Remember God does not differenciate on sin. Sin is Sin. I look at smoking as defiling the holy temple our bodies became when we accepted Christ. It is a sin but it is not unforgivable. I know you are struggling. I struggled many times trying to quit. And I would be lying to you if this quit hasn't had it's share of struggles. I just urge you to keep crying out to God to help you quit. I also urge you to ignore anyone who looks down upon you because you are a Christian and smoke. They need to take the plank out of their own eye before they judge you. And they shouldn't judge you - they need to leave that up to God. Remember men(or women) will always let you down but God will not. Many blessings my sister in Christ. I will keep you in prayers!!! Cindy
Here's a bit of inspiration for you. It's an amazing billboard campaign.

Hang in, hang on and hang up on smoking.
To clarify about my type of support. I can be a tough luv in your face no excuses just get it done type of supporter if needed. I would rather do my best to improve your some free attitude so we could try to make each other smile and laugh in the game room as you receive praise for all the work and effort it takes to stay smoke free.
I do not know why you smoke. I do not really know why you want to quit. There is nothing anyone can do to make you quit no matter how bad we want it for you. You have to want it for you bad enough to get over some tough times getting over the physical withdrawals. This is really over after 3 days as Nicotine is out of the body. So most of the work is done with attitude and playing mind games with yourself.
I quit because a friend was dying of lung cancer and I needed to quit but always found ways to make excuses to feed my addict and my addict wants.
I am here with about 10 people that all have over 1 year quits most are over 2 and 3 years. We all followed similar paths to stay quit and I have tried to recreate those things that helped us as groups here on EX. I think you or anyone really wanting to stay quit should also read and participate in as many post as possible in the following groups.
We pledged daily, not to smoke in front of a group of like minded people, we read words of wisdom, we learned by tough luv that all excuses are lame to ever take another puff, we found quit buddies that understood what we were going through, some of us played word games to pass time or to laugh or to try to make someone else laugh and some just decided it was easiest to just give thanks and praise to help solve the troubling times in our life.
You didnt become an addict over night so dont expect to get fixed over night. You can be smoke free and we can help you but you need to be teachable and willing to understand you really need to quit before it causes even more problems for you and it is a great feeling to never have to be controlled by a nasty habit that makes you smell and look like crap and really just helps mask other problems you might need to deal with in your life.
I am here .... along with others.... we will be there for you....just never give up....it is worth the fight !
Peace !
