currently unemployed high school counselor (laid off in July 08), lead singer in local band with my husband, who also plans to quit smoking - great source of anxiety for us both. I am usually pretty healthy, but have fallen into a very unhealthy routine after my last job, which required a lot of travel - driving. I smoke a lot in my car and although I have asked my husband to smoke outside with me, he refuses, and so this has made my smoking habit even worse, including the stress of losing my job. I am also currently appealing a workers comp. claim, another source of anxiety....I am afraid to quit smoking, but I HATE the habit....I need lots of help! I plan on starting to take wellbutrin to help me quit. I tried chantix and didn't like it.....

I'm so glad you're here Leanne! Don't let others influence your decision to quit. This is a great thing you're doing for yourself. You can do this and you will.
Hello Leanne! I would like to extend a warm welcome to you. This is a great way to start out 2009! I'm 53 and I started smoking when I was 15. I quit on July 17, 2004. I was so scared when I quit, but it was the best thing I ever did for myself. There's lots of great people to help you on this site. Stick with the winners; the ones who are positive and enthusiatic about helping you. You are welcome to check out the group "Yes You Can."

Go for it.
Don't be the only idiot outside in the cold. Its really not good for your voice, the cold air or the smoking.
