About Me:
My name is Cindy and I have a wonderful husband and two beautiful daughters. I have smoked for about 30 years. The last 20 pretty consistantly except for times I have tried to quit. I joined this site on August 19th and quit on August 20th cold turkey. I have tried to quit many times before this but it never stuck. This addiciton was raging a battle in my mind. This time I have been able to stay quit only through the grace of God. I finally surrendered this addiction to Him and said I was powerless without Him to quit. I also joined a "set free" addiction group at my church. It is for all types of addictions. There I go every week to get support and encouragement from other addicts. I have learned it really doesn't matter what you are addicted to - we all are very similar and suffer from the same problems. Like any other addict I am taking one day at a time. Although I have a counter it really means little to me. I know if I take just one puff, my quit would be destroyed. I try not to concentrate on the counter because I don't want to get arrogant in my quit. That is when you are most vulnerable. That is when, I believe, the devil is waiting for you to tell you his lies that it would be ok to "just have one". When cravings come and they still do - I pray to my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and renounce Satan in Jesus' name. I praise God that I continue to stay quit and that He has broken this stronghold in my life and has shown me what true freedom is all about. "I can do all things through Christ Jesus who strengthens me" Philliappians 4:13

Prayers for the familes of victims of plane crash 3407 near Buffalo NY

Last night's plane crash happened less than a mile from my home. Could you please lift of the Clarence Center area in prayer as we struggle with the devastating loss of life. feeling better......BUT!!!!

As Many of you know I have been having a tough time of it with depression/anxiety. Not scared or embarassed about it. If I can help anybody who suffers with the same problem I am more than willing. Mental illness gets a bad rap!!!! So I am better but things may change tomorrow. If Time Warner and the Lin Company who owns our local CBS station don't get their act together. Hello everyone,

I thought I would share this comment I received from a friend on this site. It's for anyone who is thinking of quitting, wanting to quit, or tempted to go back to smoking. Having a tough time - could use some encouragement!!!

Hello Everyone,

Not having the best day!!! Ok I'm just going to humble myself here - I have suffered with depression/anxiety for years. I for the most part have it under control but at times it rears its ugly head. Thus it is one of my big triggers. I sometimes let the dumbest things get me down. My 7th grader had a big disappointment today. All I know is when my kids hurt, I think I hurt 10 times more.
