About Me:
My family does not know that I smoke so to keep that a secret I won't give away too much about myself except that I'm a singer who wants her voice back. I'm also a role model and want to set a good example for those that I mentor. In addition, I'd like to figure out how to have a good time without falling into the beer-cigarette-beer-cigarette cycle.

Ack! Postnasal Drip Misery!

Just thought I'd update on my status. After Black Friday I will officially be cig free for a month. I want to celebrate but I feel like I should wait a year since the longest I quit smoking in the past is three months so I want to extend the amount of time I'll allow myself to go buck wild with a quit date anniversary until a year from now. This will keep me motivated for a long while. Anyway, I thought I had bipassed smokers sickness but nooooooo. I have a serious postnasal drip situation (con… Continue

I commented in the "friends who mock you" thread that i successfully avoided smoking for the entire night last night which I was happy about because it was the first time I've gone for a night out of drinking/dancing that I haven't given in to the urge to smoke. Both my friends kept asking me if I wanted one I would simple say no, confidently. They didn't make a big deal or try to pressure me after that. But I noticed something hilarious. I came prepared with my nicotine lozenges (which I like s… Continue

Hello Vanessa! Welcome to this site. We're all here for the same reason you are. You no longer have to try to quit alone. You'll find lots of different ways of how people quit and no longer have to depend on smoking to get through their day. I'm 53 and I smoked for 35 years. I quit over four years ago and this is my fourth time quitting. There are so many benefits to being a non-smoker. It can be done no matter your age or how long or how much you smoked. It's definitely worth the effort and I'm glad that you're here!

Welcome to the Fun House, Vanessa. A lot of good people here to cheer you on and keep you from falling. And glad you joined Relapse Traps. When I come up with some smart answers to your mocking friends, I'll let you know.

Meanwhile just get acquainted by reading as much as you can on here.

Unless you want a nice husky cigarette ruined kind of vocal quality - getting rid of the smokes will really clear your tone. I was amazed at how quickly I got my range back.

You CAN have a good time without smokes. And once you get to the point of not thinking of them ever moment of every day, you'll find that out. But first you have to go through the miserable rite of passage that all us quitters have gone through.

Hang around!
