Tryin' a different approach this time...

Profile Information

About Me:
First time on an online support group. It is time for a change. Time to be strong and quit this disgusting habit. I like to think of myself as a healthy person, then I look and smell the smoke and I realize I am far from it. I was born and raised in Flordia, the beach is my haven. I have come to terms that if I continue to smoke, I won't be able to spend my days old and gray (possibly senile) on the beach my 2nd home. I hide my smoking habit from the ones that are close to me. I hate having this filthy habit and lie come between the ones that I love so much. I have tried the pills, patches, and much more, but they didn't work for me because I deep down didn't want to break my love affair with the cancer stick. This is a new approach to a new me and possibly can help me ax it for good..."you won't know until you try."

Love to hear it...I went Cold Turkey as well, and it IS key to be mentally ready! If you are determined to do so than quitting will be a breeze...Cold Turkey is not as difficult as people make it out to be as long as you stay determined, and ya at first it's easy to slip up...Which I'm sure you know because you said you tried quitting before... but don't get down on yourself, just get back up and move on with your quit plan.. After a few weeks you won't even have the urge to do it anymore! Sorry about the long comment, I tend to start rambling, it's kinda my thang

Hi Staci - the best advice I can offer is JUST DO IT! Its not going to be easy, but it will get easier as time goes by. The first week is the worst - drink lots of fluids - especially orange juice - it will help to pass the craves and replenish your body of the Vit C that smoking depleted. You may feel extra tired, too - that's ok - your body is healing from all the years of abuse. This too shall pass. YOU CAN DO THIS! Holler if you need me .....Doreen :)

hmmm pointers, stay away from drinking in the start of your quit lol ! drinking makes it very hard to say no. also, try to stay away from others that smoke in the beginning. good luck on your quit in 13 days ! you can do it, just keep busy and stay occupied. cutting back would be a great idea. i quit cold turkey and it wasn't so bad i couldn't stand it, it was pretty tolerable. good luck, if you need help just ask us or post a blog !
