About Me:
I quit smoking December 21, 2007 at 8500 feet above sea level. It was
almost Christmas and I always used to cut down at high altitude. Now
a days there's very little smoking allowed indoors anywhere. Well, I had
lost my cigarettes and I was planning to quit on January 1 anyway so I
just did it ten days early instead. Out in Colorado, the withdrawal symp-
toms weren't that bad. Once I was back in New Orleans, it got rough.
This site helped me a lot and now I'm more than a year and a half without
a single cigarette. I never took a single puff.

Peter,
thanks for your note and stopping by my page. i just read your paragraph above. i know what you mean about the high altitude. we go to CO quite regularly as our daughters live there. when we were there last x-mas, we were at over 10,000 ft. the altitude did make it hard to breathe. i didn't quit smoking then, however, i did quit Feb 14. the breathing was getting more difficult. so much better now.
that's GREAT that you've been smoke free for a year and 1/2! WTG!
you're right, we can never take another puff!!! ;)

Well, congratulations, Peter, on your new job! Nothing better than a government job. I would say that's pretty secure these days. Sorry I haven't been on much lately. Just too much to do around here when the weather is nice. I spend a lot of time just trying to get healthy...between preparing food, exercise, walking, etc. just takes most of my day. Then of course I have a husband who takes up a certain amount...ha! ha! I understand where you're coming from not wanting a job that you couldn't smoke in before, but hey, now you're unlimited in what you can do and where you can go! What a wonderful quit you have going! I'm sure you'll stay with it for the rest of your life! I know I will. I've been having computer problems lately and if that isn't a real trigger! I really don't want one, but that same nervous feeling comes over me when I get frustrated and can't figure something out. I'll probably end up getting a new computer and printer in the near future, but I have so much that I need to get backed up first. I swear computers are like your own kids! Well, it was great to hear from you, Peter! Let me know how the new job goes...

Hello my solstice half brother...............INDEED........12 and 18 are some good numbers I think. Thanks for stopping by and I don't think about smoking much either, except that the memories of doing so are faded into the haze. It is great to be a NON-smoker. CONGRATULATIONS TO YOU AS WELL.

Hi Peter,

Just checking in with you. I just joined the triple digit club....
Come and give us some support we need the big guys to come on over and visit a little bit..Looking at your life it seems pretty interesting all around. Giving up smoking just made it all that better. Although I have a really full life I never felt great because i never felt well I always told myself you need to put more effort into yourself with good thing as much as you smoked. So slowly I have been changing my life as having more fun and getting in shape...I have to say joining a gym was the best thing I could have done for myself it also really helps with the anxiety...thanks for the good example. BTW, What Jazz bands? Are you in one or like Jazz?

Good Morning, Peter! It was great to hear from you! I guess you have been really busy with all the company and your jazz bands. Well, being busy is what it's all about, isn't it? It's awful to be bored! I used to think life would be boring as a non-smoker, but it's anything but. There's never enough hours in the day to get everything done that I want to do. Good luck on your continued quit! I really appreciate your comments about me helping people. It makes it more worthwhile, somehow.
