About Me:
I am a 56 year old female who just signed on today. After not smoking for 28 years, I went through a very stressful traumas, with PTSD, and moved in with two smoking family members. I hate smoking and I am disappointed in myself for ever starting again and want very badly to quit ASAP. I need a support system and group. After going through a divorce and also being a victim of violent crime, my therapist said to not be so hard on myself right now. I've smoked now for approx. 15 months. I smoke 5-10 cigarettes a day.

Hi Paula,
My husband and I are both 54 and have smoked for 40 years. This is my 9th time to quit smoking. I have quit cold turkey and used the patch. This time my husband and I decided to use Chantix. I would highly recommend it. It really helps. You must eat before you take it or you will get sick. You will go thru withdrawls but they are not near as bad as going cold turkey or on the patch. Read about Chantix and how it works. This is it for us.......no more smoking. We quit 1 week ago.

Paula, I just read one of your posts....get the book, The easy Way to Quit Smoking. Ive quit several times but this time my head was screwed on right because i read the book...and Im quit 4 good!!

Claudia and about 7-8 others friends all came from another online smoke free support group and all give SUPER advice so here are some of the groups we belong to and then you can see who you relate to best ( the rest of us will probably pitch in anyway) !!

Hi Paula,

Sometimes you can add friends to your list and then just click on their pictures to go to their "My Page" and then you can post on their page or send them a private message.

Some people join groups and then the groups member page can be shown and you can then click on their ID picture.

Did that help at all?

Good for you Paula! My mom actually just went through her second quit... she started back up after 32 years as a non-smoker, and quit just 4 months ago. Just goes to show how sneaky of an addiction is really is. Be sweet to yourself and remember that quitting is the nicest thing you can do for yourself... the negatives of a brand new quit are an illusion and will fade away before long...
