I QUIT SMOKING ON 01/01/09...FOR THE LAST TIME!!!

About Me:
Started smoking when I was 13. I've been a heavy smoker all of my life. Recently diagnosed with emphysema (Why would I be surprised!?...COPD)
This is my second attempt at quitting in the past couple of years.
Last time I quit for 5 months.
Truth is, I really don't want to quit but I want to be able to breath!!!
The other side of my "brain" says I'm 65 and the damage is done soooooooooo...
but I've made the decision..today, 1/1/09 I'm done smoking. Reading what others are doing here and being and EX will help!

So, my quit date is in the future..but reading the daily book by allan carr is helping to the coming quit date.

Hi, Pat. How are you doing? I had absolutely no desire to quit until a potential health scare hit me. For some reason, that changed everything for me. The support of people on this site have helped so much. Let me know how you're doing.

Lived in FL on and off for over 20 years. Had my son here and I think the Governor needs to send out special award honoring true Floridians. HA. You look great by the way, a lot like my friend from Minnesota, she's 74 and I'd swear she's still in her 50's. She quit in her late 60's. Best thing she ever did. Not any any meds for anything now. It's definitely extended her life and quality of life immensely. I'm SO loving that! Have a great day Pat! Don't pay attention to the extra little voice inside the head these days. Such a nag I'm sure! I felt a bit schizophrenic early in the quit. It does go away, thank God!

Just checkin' in, haven't seen you around lately. I live in Florida too, had an adorable schnauzer that used to love to jump into our pool for the tennis ball. Your pic brings back a lot of loving and fun memories of her. Hope all is well!

Hey Pat, I'm somewhat in the same boat. I don't really wish to quit, but the health issue is getting serious. To breath or to continue smoking. Congrats on your quit!!
