I have smoked since I was 14 years old. I had a stroke on December 5. I was smokefree for 9 days. Then I started again. My brother offered to quit chewing tobacco if I would quit smoking with him. We quit on December 26. I have 3 children and their dad who are encouraging me to make it this time and I am trying really hard. I am using the nicotine patches, but sometimes it is still very hard. I am now 55. My youngest son is 17 and I dont want to leave him without his mom as he still needs me and loves me very much. I thought it would help me if I joined this group to get extra encouragement and help me when I need it. Thank you

Marjorie - welcome to this site. You are doing a wonderful thing, like you need me to tell you that.
I have been smoke free now for 106 days. Without this site, I probably would not have been successful. I too smoke for over 40 years. I am so happy that I do not smoke! I am not saying that I don't want one, because I do. But, I will never again smoke another cigarette.
