Not Quit Yet

I want to quit smoking. I can't stand the taste. I can't stand the smell. I can't stand the price....any price you can think off. I put a patch on this morning and have still smoked 5 cigarettes in last two hours. Gonna read some posts and see if I can get inspired. The thought of quitting sends the little smokey squirrel in my brain into a panic and it trys to convince me I absolutely have to have another one right now...even though I just freaking smoked one. Damn that squirrel!

Hello Larry! Welcome to this site. You are definitely in the right place because you don't have to do this alone and you no longer have to let smoking control every aspect of your life. You have alot more strength than you realize and you can be successful at your quit. We're all here for the same reason and there is lots of support here. You don't have to like quitting, just get through it the best you can. I'm glad that you're here! You are welcome to check out the newest group called "Yes, You Can." Get involved in discussions and group and you'll get tons of support to help you get through your cravings. My suggestion is to procrastinate. Put off lighting up till the craving goes away. Every time you get through a craving, you get stronger and the cravings get weaker until they eventually go away.

Hey Larry, welcome!!! The trick to quitting is to just DO IT. Is sucks, it is hard as hell, you might feel crazy, or angry, or sad, or bored, or tired.... but guess what? You will feel all those things without a cigarette too. Use all the tools this site has to offer and when you do quit go into it knowing that it will be really hard and that if you stick with it you will find it will gets better pretty fast. Good luck and keep coming back~!
