Hi Kelly, I tried a couple times also and failed. Always remember that the only time you fail is if you don't try at all! Believe me, I am not having an easy time although I have to say it does get a bit easier after the 3-4 week mark. Everyone is different though so I am only speaking for myself. Just KNOW that you WILL have rough times and that will kind of prepare you to be ready and deal with it a little better. I haven't had a "crying fit" in about a week but it sneaks up on me sometimes so I am ready just in case. Then I will call my sister so she can get me back to reality and help me stop feeling sorry for myself by reminding me that there are people (read this entire site!) who WOULD DO ANYTHING to be able to go back in time and be in my position, still being able to breath pretty normally. That snaps me back to the REALITYthat CIGARETTS KILL YOU they ARE NOT your friend, the friend I sometimes cry for and miss! You will go through different emotional stages. Just deal with them as they arise. You have many people on here who will get you through it, and you know , no matter how strong I may sound and although it getting a bit easier I WILL need them as well because I always try to be ready for the DEVIL to come around that corner! We are here for you. Just keep fighting because you are literally fitting for your life!

Haven't heard from you in a while... Are you still on this site? I hope you are able to quit, like many of us have! Keep in touch, Merry Christmas!

Good that you have a quit date. Hopefully now you will have enough time to prepare. Definitely psych yourself up because it really helps to have enthusiasm about your quit, especially those first couple of days! After that, you can be well on your way to your new smoke-free life. Best wishes and keep in touch. Stay strong, stay focused!

Hi again! This site is a great place to start. If you want to discuss some of the reasons why you are quitting, there are many ways to go about it on this site. First, like you have been, sending comments. Other ways include: starting a discussion in one of the groups, writing a blog post, or responding to others' postings with relevant information. I recommend the group "Relapse Traps" for starters because it touches on most every reason one would smoke a cigarette, and then some... I hope you find this helpful, looking forward to hearing about your progress! Best wishes!

Congratulations on choosing a quit date...Nov 30th sounds great! Best wishes, and keep posting and reading online here. Remember the biggest beneficiary of your not smoking is yourself. Enjoy your time smoke-free!

Hey Kelly! Everyone is scared when they quit. It's totally normal and you won't like it at first. You don't have to like it, just get through the first few days the best you can. The hard part is temporary and the benefits are limitless!

Welcome! Come on in, take your shoes off, have a seat and stay awhile!

You have came to a place that has all the dimensions of a smoke free life. You have post quitters ( just deciding how and when) you have begining quitters ( very fresh into their quit) you have your mid-quitters ( well on their way to becoming smoke free) you have your master quitters ( the lloonngg timers ), and you have your self-determinaters ( those that have stumbled but refuse to fall), so by being here you will see all aspects of quitting and how each phase is delt with in real time. You will be amazed at the support you will find here. This is a great place to be and you joining us has made it that much better.

Hello Kelly! Welcome to this site. You are definitely in the right place because you don't have to do this alone and you no longer have to let smoking control every aspect of your life. You have alot more strength than you realize and you can be successful at your quit. We're all here for the same reason and there is lots of support here. You don't have to like quitting, just get through it the best you can. I'm glad that you're here! You are welcome to check out the newest group called "Yes, You Can." Get involved in discussions and group and you'll get tons of support to help you get through your cravings. My suggestion is to procrastinate. Put off lighting up till the craving goes away. Every time you get through a craving, you get stronger and the cravings get weaker until they eventually go away.
