I'm 50 years old with a wonderful wife and daughter. I've smoked for 32 years. I'm a construction superintendent for a large construction company.I lost my mother to cancer 7 months ago who never smoked. I've look at this site for 3 months now before joining. My quite date is 1-1-09.
I stop smoking on Jan. 1 and hadn't had a smoke until today. Bad day at work and I give in. I'm starting over again and plan on becoming a exsmoker. It been 11 days without a cigarette and that the longest I went without one in 30 years.

Thank you for your comment Jack! Well, this time you'll have lots of people to talk to. That makes a big difference when you can talk to others who have been there. I bought myself a hand-held game to keep my hands busy. I set up a "reward program" for myself. I bought myself a cell phone when I quit. My last reward to myself was a set of flannel sheets. I always wanted some. So for less than the price of a carton, I bought the sheets. My next reward is coming Tuesday when the DVD "Righteous Kill" is released. I'm a big Al Pacino fan! Huuuah!
Hello Jack! I would like to extend a warm welcome to you. This is a big decision you have made and a life-changing one too. You won't find any miracle cure here, but you'll meet alot of people here who are miracles, including me, and you too! I was so scared when I quit and had big doubts that I could because this was my fourth try. This is the longest I've gone without a smoke since I started smoking when I was 15. I'm 53 now and I haven't smoked since July 17, 2004. I am no longer a hostage of my addiction. You don't have to go through your quit alone. You are welcome to check out the group, "Yes You Can." It's a great place to socialize with other people trying to quit and who have already quit.
