About Me:
I am 42 years old and started smoking at age 16. Despite the fact that I can't stand smoking, I smoke a lot! I once quit cold turkey and it lasted for two long years. I started smoking again 9 years ago and although my body tells me in every which way that I really really should quit, I hadn't been able to last for more than 2 days - until now. I'd like to get back to the point where I won't think about cigarettes at all any more, and I know it's possible!

This was a very spontaneous quit, mainly to support my husband who was determined to start the new year smoke-free. I myself find those new year's resolutions rather suspect. But much to my own surprise, here I am, still going strong...

Just when I thought I was safe...

... and it would all be smooth and happy sailing from here - a mega double whammy crave hit me last night. It was so bad, I could have punched a whole in the wall out of anger over not being able to smoke a cigarette. I am not even sure what brought it on after 38 mostly happy smoke free days!!! Damn, I thought this would be past me by now. But evidently not, which is depressing on one hand, on the other one it's pretty darn amazing that I did NOT go to the gas station and bought a pack.… Continue

A month, a month, it's been a month! Wow!

My entries here have gotten fewer and fewer, but I guess an entire whole full month without cigarettes warrants a special celebration. Let the corks pop :D ! And of course a big HOORAY to all the fellow New Years Day Ex's who are still here - Nancy, Angela, Sharon, Lindy, J A ! Hopefully also Dana, Denise and Tresdifficile? This is my 32nd day of Cold Turkey Nicotine Withdrawal - and I am still alive. Not smoking was entirely survivable after all, who would have thought!?! There really is a lif… Continue

Day # 28 - who would have EVER though it'd be four weeks???

Oh wow, I don't even know where to start. I am so thankful that I have made it so far. 28 days, four whole weeks without so much as a puff, YEAH! I credit this website and my fellow New Years Day Ex's a lot for still being here. I feel absolutely GREAT to say the least, although I won't lie - sometimes and against all better knowledge, my chest just so much wants to deeply inhale that nasty cigarette smoke and "all will be good". Yeah, right -it will be, for about two minutes or so, and then I a… Continue

I can't believe it's day #19! How things have changed...

Yes, things really have changed a lot by day #19! Spontaneous cravings have completely vanished. I don't think about a cigarette as soon as I get up! I don't cough anymore and my lungs no longer burn. I cannot tell whether my jacket needs to go to the dry cleaner by checking how smoky it smells. My hair, house, towels, pets etc. no longer reek of cigarettes. And the list could go on. I can also do most of the things I did while smoking cigarettes without going nuts again. I can drink and enjoy… Continue

Eezy-breezy day # 12, woohoo!

This is the second day in a row, where not smoking was basically "no big deal" - a nice change up from the on and off pattern I had going just a few days back. I was busy today and barely thought about a cigarette at all. Until, that is, my (allegedly non-smoking) husband and I went to the beach in the evening and even though I was about 50 feet away from him taking photos of some dune grass, I suddenly felt cigarette smoke in my nostrils. Yup, there he was trying to sneak a smoke and while it f… Continue

I'm so glad you got a laugh from the video. I know I did and still do every time I listen to it. I am very glad to hear you are still doing well with your quit. I really had no doubt though. Last time we talked you seemed to have a good handle on it! 100 days right around the corner. YAY we rock!!
