ONE WEEK

I've made it to the one week mark and I am feeling good about myself. I am still chewing the nicotine gum but have not taken a puff in 7 days! My goal is to titrate down on the gum and eventually replace it with "regular" gum as time passes. Has anyone else had success this way? I'd be interested to hear your experience doing it like this. Keep up the good work.

Your blog about screaming at the top of your lungs made me laugh. It has been a long time but I remember doing that on more than one ocassion and in my car too. I must have looked like an insane maniac. Okay, I was. Addiction IS insanity at its best, we'll rationalize anything for a fix and all the while not really wanting to smoke because we know it is killing us. What a life!---NOT. Congratulations on your quit!!!! Two weeks!!! Yes!!!!!! I promise you it not only gets easier and easier, but life, our health, our mental well-being, it all gets better too!

I Just watched your video and if anything has ever made an impression on me and given me the desire to keep fighting this addiction, it was your words. Thank you for being brave enough to speak out, to volunteer your time to the schools and for making the decision to stop. I appreciate your heartfelt plea and will think of your words every time a craving hits. You have no idea (or perhaps you do...) how inspiring your words are. I am praying for you. Miracles to happen!

Well, thank you for your warm invite. We have such similarities: I started smoking at 15, as well, and will be 53 in February, have tried to quit several times already (about 6 times) and I really want this to be the LAST time I quit! I will mos def check out the sites and I am happy to be a part of something with so many commited people. I'm at work at the mo, and have to sign out but I will return this eve when I get home - let you know how my progress is going!

Hello Angela! I would like to extend a warm welcome to you. This is a big decision you have made and a life-changing one too. You won't find any miracle cure here, but you'll meet alot of people here who are miracles, including me, and you too! I was so scared when I quit and had big doubts that I could because this was my fourth try. This is the longest I've gone without a smoke since I started smoking when I was 15. I'm 53 now and I haven't smoked since July 17, 2004. I am no longer a hostage of my addiction. You don't have to go through your quit alone. You are welcome to check out the group, "Yes You Can." It's a great place to socialize with other people trying to quit and who have already quit.
