To the women who are smoking while pregnant. I know its hard.. believe me. When i found out i was pregnant last january i was a full time smoker. I cut down to 2 a day and thought i was not being SO bad...but when march came and I had a miscarriage, all i could think about was that it was my fault. That having a beautiful healthy child was less important to me than a disgusting selfish addiction. You really have to put your baby first instead of your own needs. I quit smoking in August. I had a horrible time, but i stuck it out and won! I am almost 3 month cigarette free and i couldnt be happier. My husband and I are trying to another baby and I cant tell you how good it feels to know that I am doing it the right way this time..

So I just decided to joing this board.
I'm on the July quitters board.
Haven't had a cigarette since July 5 2009. Crazy enough I found out I was pregnant in September, and found I actually was pregnant august 1.. crazy. Anyway EDD is April 25 2010. How's everyone else on here?

Hey everyone, I am Mandie.. new to the group. I am 19weeks 3days, and have been smoking occasional, not daily at first but yesterday it got to that point. I ran out any bought a pack.. My husband had no idea I had even picked it up again, then he walked in on me today.. He just stormed out of the house.. I feel horrible, I felt bad/guilty now I feel even worse. I don't know what to do or say as he is not a smoker and doesn't understand.. He said that I could be making our child retarded... I just am lost. :( this is so hard.

Hi everybody! I'm very excited to be a new member! I'm 21 weeks pregnant and feel horrible for being a smoker. I'm finally on bupropion and so very ready to stop smoking. I'm actually to the point of desperation to be successful. I have several friends and family who have quit in the past 6 months and almost feel jealous of them because they have quit and I haven't even after becoming pregnant. But I am glad to have them for support and the less smokers in my life the better!!

Hi Everyone, I just found out I am pregnant and am down to 2-4 cigarettes per day vs over a pack. It is hard but just keep thinking about all the reasons not to smoke. I am 36 and have been noticing some mild shortness of breath and actually had what I felt was pretty severe shortness of breath after running with my luggage in the Hartsfield Atlanta airport to catch a flight a few months ago. It took forever before I caught my breath. Anyway, just wanted to introduce myself and am looking forward to all the support to help quit smoking these nasty cigarettes. :-)

Hi Douglas,
Chantix while pregnant? I dont think that sounds very good. the best advice i have is ONE day at a time. I quit a little over a month ago and i am still living that way. I still have cravings, but they are not nearly what they were, and not as often. Of course, i am trying to stay away from coffee and alcohol because these were my triggers. I found that cutting back didnt work...its all or nothing..

My job is to help people quit. Any of your advice to pass on to them is helpful. I'm a pretty good coach as it is ...but hearing your* experiences quitting and cutting back can definitely help me ...help others who are pregnant. ***QUESTION: HAS ANYONE TAKEN CHANTIX WHILE PREG? I SPOKE TO A PATIENT TODAY WHO WAS ENCOURAGED TO TAKE CHANTIX TO QUIT WHILE PREGNANT.*** ...hmm???

I know Wendy, its uphill for a while but it does get easier and soon you will forget you even smoked, its like losing a friend.. Nobody told me that i would actually be depressed about quitting and how emotional it would be, but it will be so worth it when we are a healthy & pregnant!!

Wendy C... you can do it, the first week is the HARDEST!!! I am into Week 3 of my 3rd attempt this year with the patch, last time ) lasted 11 months! so you can do it too. I find walking is great, watching alot of movies, surfing the net and Eclipse mints have all been saviors for me... At times i miss it but I want the baby more than the cig and if you can keep that at the front of your mind oyu can do it... We went to a fertility specialist last week and she told us smokng is a big factor in not being sucessful at conceivng.. I am devestated that it is taking us so long ot get pregnant but I know quitting smoking will help our cause.. stay strong girl, you will beat it!!!
