I wanted a place for quitters to see they are not crazy with some of the side effects.

I quit smoking 7 weeks ago. I have had a sinus infection that won't go away for 6 weeks. I think it is my body detoxing. Some people cough (I did not) and I think mine went to my sinus'

My sister's Thryoid went crazy. What is your side effect?

Crazy? Maybe. But I do not believe in coincidence.

I have been smoke free for 5 months. Wow feels good to say that. I never never want to go through the withdrawal again. It took me close to 3 months to start feeling better. I now feel great. I have cleaned up my diet and exercise so no weight gain at all.

I am starting an intensive "boot camp" and afraid that may make me detox more and get sick. I really hope not.

Keep at it everyone. It does get better and better.

Hi everyone; Call me Cory. I quit 5-1/2 years ago. I was hospitalized with Colon Cancer. I also had cancer of the lower lip. All the cancer was removed and I have been cancer free (latest cea test was below .01 which is great) for over four and a half years. Now don't get me wrong here. I don't mean to minimize what you all are going through. Been there and done that (and hated it) But you know what? I hated those d___ed ciggs. a lot more. So I stayed quit. But now on to the side effects. I've had to put up with clothes that don't stink of ciggerette smoke. I've had to endure using the $16,000 I would have been giving the tobacco companies over that same period (oh yeah, baby. I did the math!!!) I used the money to buy a really sweet motorcycle. I've had to put up with fingers that are not stained yellow. I've had to put up with staying in the room with my friends at the party, instead of standing alone outside puffing on a weed. Now I have to drive without my wife complaining about the smoke in the car/house. And here's a really bad side effect: I don't hear my self wheeze lying in bed, and I don't get so winded I think I'm going to faint just from climbing a flight of stairs.

Okay, so yes I'm making light of it, but the point is dead serious. You CAN do it. Don't worry about the side effects. They will go away. Just keep on picturing your self smokeless, and how clean yo will feel. If you want to know how I quit, go to the how I quit board. I'll tell you. or email me corymcsafe@aol.com. I'm a friendly guy who believes that we all should help each other when we are down. Others helped me. now it's my turn to give back. good luck to all!!!!!
