I wanted a place for quitters to see they are not crazy with some of the side effects.

I quit smoking 7 weeks ago. I have had a sinus infection that won't go away for 6 weeks. I think it is my body detoxing. Some people cough (I did not) and I think mine went to my sinus'

My sister's Thryoid went crazy. What is your side effect?

Crazy? Maybe. But I do not believe in coincidence.

I QUIT 9 weeks ago. Other than the twinges of the addiction-withdrawals, I had little side effect the first several weeks...
At week three ( & a half) I became depressed a little bit... At week four I had cancker sores all over my mouth for a few days... The sixth - eighth week I had this horrible cough and a painful sinus infection... Now I have the weight gain and dry skin.
Although the professionals say there is no proof that these, and other symtoms, are related to niotine withdrawal, I BEG TO DIFFER!
Be careful and mindful ... Don't allow yourself to fall for any of your brains' nasty tricks - you will not feel better and nor give yourself relief if you go back to the tobacco! All who have relapsed are wittness to this fact.
Hang in there ... Most, if not all, of these uncomfortable symtoms will (soon) become an old memory!
Stay with the program, give yourself loads of credit and be proud of your hard work! EXing is the best and most important workout you can do for yourself and for those around you!
Bright smiles and warm hugs ~ Mary

Hi Angie,
I also struggle with depression, and it is much worse after quitting smoking. I haven't started an anti-depressant yet, but I am thinking about it.

It has been just over 9 weeks!!

I had a little of the depression. Starting going to the gym and a yoga class. Seems to be helping. I also have the dry skin. Actually just on my face. I have been using double moisturizer, didn't think about it being from quitting smoking .

I can't even go to the movie theater in the casino or my sinus' go crazy. Weird. I smoked for 30 years and now can't even be around it without getting sick.

for some reason i have had terrible headaches. i don't know if this is normal or not, but they are very bothersome and keep me from getting things done, which then leds me to thinking about smoking. i've only been quit 11 days from a 2 pack a day, 20 year addiction. does it really get better? and if it does, any ideas on when? i'm hoping not months or many more weeks!

Sherry,

I got a terrible sinus infection so it took me several weeks to feel a little better. DON'T SMOKE. It does get better. The tobacco companies began processing the tobacco differently so that cigarettes are more toxic, I think that is why quitting is so much harder. Who would have thought they could make cigarettes even worse and more addictive than they already were?

I quit 23 years ago and it was a little hard but nothing like this. After 9 weeks I feel way better but now if I even go where there is smoking I am sick. Weird. Stay strong you are doing great!.
