Hi everyone,, I've got to say I relapsed after 4 months . Started with 1 and ended within 2 weeks to smoking like I'd never stopped. I've now quit again
and am so upset with myself that I let myself and my family down.
I know I can do now though and that's the thing thats getting me through
this again.
Thanks for the support !!!

My quit date was Dec. 30 and I too have to agree that without this site, I might not have had the success I have had up to today of being SMOKE FREE. After 37 years of smoking, I am done. I can write that on new forms I fill out at the doctor's office, etc., "Smoker?" "NO!" That was the best feeling, being able to mark the NO box on those forms, I swear. I could not have done it without the information provided here as well as the support of other people trying to accomplish the same thing. Thank you and let's all keep up the great work.

HI everyone, this week will be one month for me without one puff. I have to say I don't think I could have done this without the support from this website.
It's crazy I've struggles for so long and tried so many times, and knowing there are people struggleing the same way as me and having a place to express my feelings helped soo much . Good luck to all newby's and all I can say is be strong and focused on your getting well.

My quit date was Dec. 15th and I am proud to say I have not had one cigarette since! It was hard at first, but I really wanted this. Every time I had a craving I knew in my mind that I would never allow myself to smoke even one cigarette, because I would be so ashamed of myself and all my hard work. So to everyone else, good luck! It's been over a month for me, and it seems to get easier everyday. Don't give up hope! You can make it!

Happy 2009! and it will be a happier year for me. I quit on Dec 5th. I had been telling myself that quitting would be a New Years resolution, however, I said the same thing in 2006, 2007 and 2008. This year it was going to be different. So, with the thought still fresh in my mind....I quit right there and then!!! I went into Christmas and the New Year smoke free! It's been 4 weeks now and I must admit, the nicotine cravings are still there on Monday mornings. The thought of another week at the office is daunting. I pop one of the Committ mints in my mouth and press on! I am 52 years old and have smoked for 7 years. Never smoked before then...EVER! I was a weightlifter for nearly 10 years. One day at a routine Dr. visit, he informed me that I had Type 2 Diabetes. Not insulin dependant but on the glucaphage meds. I would have to stop lifting until my sugar/insulin was under control. That totally threw me! I guess I felt sorry for myself and I started smoking on a whim one night. Real smart!! Diabetes and smoking....I started back in the gym on Dec 6th and am lifting and running already. Very difficult. Every justification came to mind. The more I tried to justify, the longer I stayed in the gym. Listen, if diabetes can't stop me, a little 3 inch piece of tobacco is not gonna do it! I'm on my way to getting healthy again. I am getting ready to run the Obsticle Course to become a Reserve Police Officer in my local area! I have the motivation to get this behind me and I plan on succeeding.

Happy New Year! For smoker of 8 years... I smoked my last cigarette on Christmas... seeing the tragic effects of cigarettes on my grandfather is really what did it for me... that and having to lie to him constantly... he was so proud of me "quitting" about 3 years ago. I couldn't really deal with the guilt anymore. I've been using the Commit lozenges 4mg and I must say they do work.... AND please let me gloat for a bit when I say that I haven't relapsed even ONCE!!! Even in the face of numerous obstacles such as drinking on weekends and of course New Year's EVE!!! I thought it would be a major problem for me because by fiance smokes around me... but I'm ok! I firmly believe that this time around I was mentally ready to quit!! Wish me luck and best of luck to everyone here!!! I'm so proud!
