I WAS starting to have some strong cravings Then - Cigarettes Killed my Neighbor 2 Days ago

Yup, I was starting to get some pretty strong craivings a few days ago, and the lies started creeping into my mind, "Oh just a few drags and it will be ok" - "I know I won't go back to full smoking" - "Just on the weekend" -
I am sure you know those familiar lies. (I am pretty depressed lateley too and that is no help)
THEN my husband came in from work.
Before he came into the house He saw our neighbor's brother by the fence and he went over to the fence to say Hi - De - Ho - "Dave" (our neighbor's bro) told my husband that Roy passed away last night.
We knew that Roy had been diagnosed with lung cancer about 5 or 6 months ago. They told us at the beginning of summer about Roy's condition. We saw Roy a bit here and there over the summer outside, and he wasted away very quickly. He used to be a very jolly and round shaped man, but he lost so much weight so quickly, and he decided to try to fight the cancer and he was on the chemo, and he lost all of his hair. He never looked like the happy Roy ever again that we knew for several years.
Roy was a heavy chain smoker and he was in his early to mid 50's. He loved to be in his garage working on cars and when ever we saw him he ALWAYS had a cigarette hanging out of his mouth, and when that one was burned down to the filter he would light another one off of that burned up one.
He was another victom of those damn killers and all of those lies from the tobaco companies.
So when my husband came in the door that day, all of those cravings and those lies that I was fabricating in my head went away - and then I became very angry!
Please say a prayer for Roy's family.
Thank you Dear Friends....
On top of this sad news.... about 3 weeks ago we lost another friend of ours to Cancer. Doreen. She had been dieing for about 9 months, nothing could be done for her. She was such a beautiful lady, and her husband was crazy about her - but she too could not leave those cig's alone either.
She was in our biker group and a fellow lady rider too - She was so beautiful, and she was so full of life and so gutsy -
Ride Free Doreen!!!!
It is amazing when ya think about it - the HUGE pain and suffering and great losses caused by these very small sticks that we used to get so much pleasure from - and the destruction they leave behind and the millions of lives they have destroyed and continue to destroy.

Pauline, I am so sorry to hear about the loss of your neighbor and your friend. But, in spite of all of this sadness, you found the strength to stay smoke free. I'm sure Roy and Doreen are congratulating you from beyond that you are allowing something good to come out of something so sad. So, everytime you think of lighting up, think of your friends. You will all meet again when its your time, but I'm sure neither of them would want you to take the same path as them. Hang in there and keep up the good work
